Getting to know

This academic project aims to collaboratively develop sustainable curricular formats for innovative teaching between Germany, Chile, and Spain. The cooperating universities and institutions are: the University of Heidelberg (together with the Heidelberg Center for Latin America), the University of Chile, the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and the University of Salamanca.

Chile

Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile

Founded in 1888. Nowadays considered as one of the most prestigious universities of Latin America. The university’s 18 faculties are attended by around 30 000 students. With 37 research institutions and international cooperation with universities worldwide, the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile is an important scientific centre in Latin America.

Founded in 1942. Is one of the most prestigious and recognized institutions of higher education in Chile and Latin America This public university offers a wide range of academic programs in diverse areas, including sciences, humanities, arts, engineering and medicine.

Heidelberg Center for Latin America

The HCLA promotes German higher education’s internationalization, cutting-edge research networks, and cooperative teaching with leading Latin American universities. It collaborates with institutions in geosciences, astronomy, law, medical fields, and fosters practical experiences through extensive partnerships in Germany and Chile.

Germany

The city of Heidelberg is a vibrant student city and is a hub for companies and research centers in the Rhine-Neckar region. Heidelberg University, founded in 1386, is the oldest university in Germany and has about 30,000 students. The Institute for Translation and Interpreting (IÜD) is an institution with a rich history of research and teaching, modernizing to prepare students for career success.

Spain

In Spain, the IVAC project collaborates with the University of Salamanca (USAL). Located in Salamanca, a university city rich in culture and history, the University was founded in 1218 and is the oldest in Spain. The USAL currently has more than 30,000 students and stands out for its excellence in teaching and research.
